LENTILS

DESCRIPTION

Lentil is one of the most ancient cultivated plants. Archeologists found its grains in large numbers in pile structures of the Bronze Age (on the islands of Lake Bienne in Switzerland). The ancient Egyptians made various dishes from lentils, baked bread from lentil flour. There was a proverb in ancient Greece: An intelligent man always cooks his lentils well. In ancient Rome, lentils were very popular, in particular, as a medicine.
