PEARL BARLEY

DESCRIPTION

Pearl barley is produced from barley by cleaning its seeds from bran, followed by grinding and polishing. The Old Slavonic word “pearls”, meaning pearls, gave the name to this simple and inexpensive croup. On sale you can find the usual barley, having a slightly elongated shape of the grains, as well as the Dutch, the grains of which are processed to a spherical shape. Finely chipped barley grits are called barley.
